YakuRumi & The KunKuMan.
A Place for Sharing and Learning
YakuRumi started some fifteen years ago as a communal project along the Yuyan river in Quebrada Paron. Today, true to our roots we are still a communal project. YakuRumi is a great place to stay with easy access to the mountains and the best of the Cordillera Blanca, but we’re also much more. We’re a place to learn and to share a passion for art and music. Through KunKu Drums & Flutes, we offer traditional musical instruments, and classes and clinics on designing and handcrafting instruments. So when you’re ready for something a little different, grab a drum and join us around the fire.
Get in Touch
We want to provide the best possible experience. We’ve put a lot of thought into YakuRumi and we’ve talked to a lot of other adventure travelers and campers about their stays at other camps. All of this guidance and advice has come to good use in building YakuRumi. If you would like more information on camping with us, or want to volunteer or contribute in some way, get in touch. We would love to hear from you. Please leave any comments or reservations below. Be sure to let us know what you would like to do while visiting. We’re happy to help you with more information or in planning your time in the area.
How to Find us
YakuRumi is located beside the Llullán river just outside Caraz in a small community called Shocsha, along the road to Laguna Paron. From anywhere in Caraz, take a moto-taxi to “Mishi Rumi” in Shocsha. The fair should be s/3 to s/5 depending on where you board. YakuRumi is a 15 to 20 minute walk from the Plaza de Armas in Caraz. When you arrive in Shocsha there will be a green and white sign pointing to the right, down the trail to Mishi Rumi. Take this trail (about 100 meters) until you reach a wall on the right with a large wooden double door. Here take the trail to the right (about 100 meters) along the wall to the first door on your left. This is the entrance to YakuRumi.
