A Perfect Blend of Camping & Accommodation
We offer an ideal combination of camping, comfort, and conveniences, within a truly unique outdoor experience. Tent camp with your own gear, with our gear, rent a tipi, or we have a private bungalow with kitchen and bath. Each tipi is outfitted with locally handwoven wool rugs and furnished with high-quality mattresses, bedding, and warm comforters. They also have Wi-Fi, lighting, and charging outlets for all of your devices.
We provide a communal kitchen and BBQ area, drinking water, restrooms, lavatories, and piping hot showers, all within a few meters of your tent or tipi.
Great Organic Coffee, and Fresh Bread.
Along with our breakfasts, we offer great, locally sourced organic coffee, homemade desserts, cakes, and stone-ground, whole-grain breads—and we keep a small “tienda,” or store, with quality products available for your convenience.
We try to bring a little of everything to the table, including locally sourced coffees, organic cacao (cocoa), sun-dried fruits and vegetables, quality pastas, breads, and of course, local artisanal beers, chichas, and agaves.
A Place for Sharing and Learning
YakuRumi started some twenty years ago as a communal project along the Yuyan River in Quebrada Paron. Today, true to our roots, we are still a communal project. While YakuRumi is a great place to stay, with easy access to the mountains and the best of the Cordillera Blanca, we’re also a place to learn and to share a passion for ceramics, art, and music.
Through KunKuMan Drums & Flutes, we offer archaeological tours, classes, and workshops focused on designing and handcrafting traditional musical instruments. So when you’re ready for something a little different, grab a drum and join us around the fire.
Get in Touch
We want to provide the best possible experience. We’ve put a lot of thought into YakuRumi and we’ve talked to a lot of other adventure travelers and campers about their stays at other camps. All of this guidance and advice has come to good use in building YakuRumi. If you would like more information on camping with us, or want to volunteer or contribute in some way, get in touch. We would love to hear from you. Please leave any comments or reservations below. Be sure to let us know what you would like to do while visiting. We’re happy to help you with more information or in planning your time in the area.
